We arrived at Heathrow safely! The flight attendents were very complementary about our students; they were cooperative, relatively quiet, friendly and tidy. All our luggage was waiting for us on the turnstiles. Our guide, Tom, and the coach driver were pleased about the size of the suitcases (not HUGE!)
After the mix up at YVR, Mr. Risi will joining us tomorrow morning. Thank goodness!
We drove from Heathrow to the Newbury Park Holiday Inn and discovered (confirmed) that the M25 really is the world's largest parking lot. A drive that normally takes one hour took more than 2.5 hours. No one complained and Tom, our guide was able to reschedule our fish and chips dinner for 7:15. Our students have now had the chance to take the tube and transfer several times, keep right on those steep escalators and Mind the Gap! After dinner we walked to Picadilly Circus, had a group photo taken by the statue of Eros, admired the gorgeous spring windows of Fortnum and Mason's, walked to Trafalgar Square and passed a test on Admiral Nelson, his ship the HMS Victory and finished with another photo in the square. we walked to another tube station and returned to Newbury. It's 11:30 London time and most of us haven't slept since 6:00 yesterday morning. No one has been even a little grouchy. Keep your fingers crossed for tomorrow. We will be going to the Tower of London and driving by coach to Windsor Castle. We will finish the day on the London Eye.
Yesterday was Phoebe Tong's birthday, today is Matthew Heine's and tomorrow is David Miller's - what lucky kids!
More tomorrow.
Happy birthday to the bdy kids!
